Thoughts of a geek

I finally bought a laptop on Saturday 2nd September. It is an Acer Aspire 3624WXCi, cost $898 and weighs about 2.35 kg. It has a 1.6 GHz Celeron M processor, 256 MB DDR2 RAM, a 40 GB hard drive, DVD combo drive and 14.1″ widescreen. It has an Intel graphics chipset and Atheros 5212 WiFi chipset, which both worked well with Kubuntu without any setup (including DRI). This is a pleasant change. I installed Kubuntu immediately (of course). I will need to buy some more RAM for it.

I noticed that the Windows XP license (to which I disagreed) said that ‘if you do not agree to the terms of this EULA … you should promptly contact the manufacturer for instructions on return of the unused product for a refund’. I will make sure to do so.

Some pictures are below.
